This day trip visits the semi-arid forest along the Chixoy River and can be done while based in Cobán or Santa Cruz Verapaz.

Target species include Elegant Trogon, Fan-tailed Warbler, Golden-cheeked Warbler, Mountain Elaenia, Crested Bobwhite and the range restricted subspecies Carolina ‘Verapaz’ Wren.
